During the course of the past week I have been taking photographs of advertisements found on a regular day to day basis. The idea behind this task was to gain an insight into how we interpret constant advertising through creative imagery. I have posted 3 images on Instagram of my favourite advertisements, two of which were album covers and one of the “Sloth-Dolphin” found in the Three UK advertisements. These images stand out in my opinion because of the vibrant and solid colours as well as the contrast used on the album covers. The shear absurdity of the images makes the adverts appealing and stand out. The appropriation of these images is the method I used when taking the image. I would take the shot on an angle to try and see the same picture in a different way.
There are several other images on the #UNImagesinthewild page which I have grown fond of. A couple in particular are the Black and White filtered female and the Three advert “Sloth-Dolphin”:
I’m uncertain as to what advert the female portrays but the tone it sets reminds me of an early generation of photos. All of the images on the tag have good appeal with different tones/filters and camera angles to show off the appropriation guideline.
